TEST SCREENING RESULTS
After producing a first cut of my Soap Promo, ‘The Avenue’, I decided to invite people to a test screening where i would show them my promo ad let them answer a brief questionnaire. Twenty people turned up for my test screening consisting of a mixture of boys and girls, ranging from the ages of 15-19. I played my Soap Promo through twice and then handed out my questionnaire’s after. Here are my results and feedback:
Question 1: After watching this soap opera promo, are you encouraged to watch the actual soap opera, if yes, why?
All twenty people answered yes they would be encouraged to watch my soap opera. here are some reasons why:
- Leaves you wanting to know more.
- There is a cliff-hanger which is really well portrayed.
- The soap promo is realistic.
- They want to find who the father of the baby is.
- It suits well with the age group.
- The characters are exciting.
- Interesting scenes.
Question 2: Can you tell from this short clip, what the storyline is. If yes what is the storyline?
My viewers replied with:
- The brunette girl Danielle is pregnant.
- There are three potential fathers
- She doesnt know who to tell the father.
- Pregnancy and Affairs.
Question 3: What do you like about my soap promo in detail?
My viewers replied with:
-The storyline is gripping and realistic
- Location is very pleasing.
- The three different fathers make it feel like a real soap opera.
- The promo is well structured.
- The promo ends with a great cliff-hanger.
- The drama involved within the promo.
- Interesting camera angels.
- The music fits the storyline well.
- The effects that are used throughout the promo.
- The way the main characters have been introduced.

My viewers answered with:
- The promo needs titles.
- The remote scene needs slightly re-editing.
- Boys need a slightly more dramatic reaction.
- A Jeremy Kyle scene should be added.
- Add what channel the soap will be shown on.

- Teenagers/ Early 20’s.
